Clenbuterol was created for asthma treatment and originally wasn’t meant to do anything with bodybuilding. But soon after it was released to the public, athletes found out that they can use Clenbuterol for weight loss. Nowadays most people who buy Clenbuterol in Canada seek extra results for their cutting cycle and not a treatment for asthma.

There are two types of adrenoreceptors in muscle tissues – Alpha and Beta. Alpha receptors are responsible for gaining and storing fat. Beta receptors, on the contrary, start fat burning processes in your organism. Clenbuterol is a beta-2-agonist. It activates Beta receptors, which results in boosted metabolism and fat breakdown. Clenbuterol also affects your thyroid gland and enhances the production of fat-burning hormones.

Clenbuterol has little side effects, none of which are irreversible. Most of it appears in the first days of the cycle and either fade away either by the end of the first week or get eliminated by Ketotifen. Here is what you have to know about the most common Clenbuterol side effects:

Blood pressure and sped up the heartbeat

Reported by over 50% of athletes. To counter it, you can add 5 mg of Bisoprolol or 50 mg of Metoprolol in the morning during the cycle.


Experienced by 1 in 5 athletes. Especially notable on the first day of the Clenbuterol cycle.

While that’s typically all you can expect, here is a list of other side effects that are proven to exist, but are experienced by less than 10% of the athletes:

  • Sweating
  • Insomnia
  • Anxiety
  • Nausea
  • Nervousness
  • Muscle cramps

The duration of the Clenbuterol cycle is about 1,5 months or 6 weeks. In the first two weeks, you can take a clenbuterol solo. From day 14 it’s important to either take a 2-weeks break OR add a support drug Ketotifen, because your receptors become unresponsive to Clenbuterol, and Ketotifen prolongs the effect. During the break, Ketotifen is necessary as well, without it the pause in your cycle should last up to 4-6 weeks instead of 2. Given the known Clenbuterol dosage, the most common cycle would look like this:

  • Clenbuterol Weight Loss Cycle;
  • Day 1: Clenbuterol 20mg daily
  • Day 2: Clenbuterol 35-40mcg daily
  • Day 3: Clenbuterol 50-60mcg daily
  • Day 4: Clenbuterol 50-60mcg daily
  • Day 5: Clenbuterol 65-80mcg daily
  • Day 6: Clenbuterol 80-100 mcg daily
  • Day 7: Clenbuterol 100-120mcg daily
  • Week 2: Clenbuterol 100-120mcg daily
  • Weeks 3-4: Clenbuterol 100-120mcg + Ketotifen 1-2mg daily
  • Week 5: Clenbuterol 80-100 mcg + Ketotifen 1-2mg daily
  • Week 6: Clenbuterol 65-80mcg daily + Ketotifen 1-2mg daily

If you’re not comfortable with taking the compound on a daily basis, there is another common option – on and off the Clenbuterol cycle. Just take the drug once in two days instead of every day and still get all the benefits of it. This method does not affect the result, just the time that it takes you to achieve it.


Clenbuterol is technically not a steroid, it has no androgenic side effects, and therefore – safe for female athletes. Clenbuterol cycle for women is the same as it is for men, though the dosage should not exceed over 100mg. Female athletes typically get all the benefits of Clenbuterol and report a significant weight loss after the cycle.
